Junior Tennis
Academy.
Designed for motivated junior athletes, the Thoreau Club Tennis Academy is one of New England’s leading high-performance tennis academies. With expert coaching in the Mouratoglou tradition, each player is trained to think, move and compete like a champion.

Junior Development
Program.
The JDP is a progression-based pathway following the ROGY model (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow), a USTA-approved framework that adapts ball, court size and intensity to each age. The curriculum follows each child’s pace, making every session feel like a win.
FOUR STAGES
- Red (5–7 yrs): intro to tennis, hand-eye coordination, fun games
- Orange (8–10 yrs): stroke consistency, court awareness, control
- Green (10–12 yrs): strategy, point construction, movement patterns
- Yellow (12+): full-court match play, confidence under pressure, peer interaction
Enrollment includes access to court reservations and private lessons.

Ages, tryouts, ROGY and what is included.
At what age can my child start?
From 5 years old, with Red Ball tennis in the Junior Development Program. Each stage (Red, Orange, Green, Yellow) is tailored to age and skill level.
What is the difference between the Academy and the JDP?
The Junior Tennis Academy is a high-performance program for competitive juniors, with intensive technical, tactical, physical and mental training. The JDP follows the ROGY model and suits beginners to intermediate players.
Is there a tryout for the Academy?
Yes. Every player must complete an individual evaluation with the coaching team, to ensure the right placement and training intensity.
What does ROGY mean?
Red, Orange, Green, Yellow: the ball type, court size and intensity level for each age group, a developmental pathway approved by the USTA.
What is included in the Academy?
Personalized training plans, daily on-court instruction, video performance analysis, Sports Performance Training (SPT), a supportive team environment and access to the fitness and recovery facilities.
Are private lessons available for juniors?
Yes, and they are highly recommended at every level. Lessons can be booked weekly for consistent progress.
