Junior players follow a progressive pathway designed to build strong fundamentals and grow into confident competitors, in the peaceful yet performance-driven setting of Templeton Tennis Ranch.
Clinics are open to members and non-members and led by certified coaches. Placement is based on skill rather than age, so each child develops at their own pace.
CLINIC LEVELS & WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Four levels, one pathway.
Not sure which level fits? Book a private assessment with a certified coach before the first clinic.
01 / Ages 6–7
Red Ball
An introduction to tennis through fun games and basic technique. Kids develop hand-eye coordination and learn forehand, backhand, volleys and serve in a playful, supportive setting.
For players ready for high school tennis. Sessions focus on advanced technique and introduce specialty shots such as the slice, approach shots and swing volleys.
All junior clinics and lessons are built around the Mouratoglou Methodology, developed by legendary coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
This holistic approach combines technical precision, tactical awareness, mental strength and physical conditioning, to help players reach their full potential on and off the court.
What age groups can join the junior tennis clinics?
Clinics start at age 6, with four levels: Red Ball (ages 6–7), Orange Ball (ages 8–9), Green Ball (ages 9–12) and Yellow Ball (ages 13+). Placement is based on skill level, not just age.
Do I need to be a member to register my child?
No. Clinics are open to members and non-members. Membership brings added benefits, but it is not required to access junior lessons at Templeton Tennis Ranch.
How are players placed into the right clinic level?
Placement is determined by skill level, not strictly by age. We recommend a private assessment with one of our certified coaches to place your child in the most appropriate clinic.
What is the Mouratoglou Methodology used in these clinics?
Created by Patrick Mouratoglou, it combines technical, tactical, physical and mental training to develop complete, confident players at every stage.
How long are the junior clinics?
Red and Orange Ball sessions last 60 minutes; Green and Yellow Ball sessions last 90 minutes. Each session is taught by USTPA-certified coaches in small groups, for personalized attention.
Where do the junior tennis clinics take place?
At Mouratoglou Tennis Center Templeton, within Templeton Tennis Ranch: a five-acre facility with USTA-regulation courts and a stadium court, in a nature-rich setting on California’s Central Coast.
What should my child bring to their tennis clinic?
A tennis racquet (loaners are available), tennis shoes, comfortable athletic wear and a water bottle. All clinics take place outdoors on professional-grade courts.
