Profile & career
A child prodigy who delivered on the big stage.
Linda Fruhvirtova, Brenda's elder sister, has been in the spotlight since childhood, her game and results raising the highest expectations. Her victory at the 2019 Petits As left a lasting impression on the tennis world.
Despite the pressure, she made a stunning transition to the professional game: a first professional tournament at 14, first main-tour wins and first ITF titles at 15, a first WTA title at 17. In June 2023, aged 18, she broke into the top 50 at No. 49, her best ranking to date, a few months after reaching the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open.
Did you know? She is the most dominant winner in the history of the Petits As, losing just 15 games on her way to the 2019 title.
CAREER
Titles, year by year.
After three titles on the ITF circuit, Linda Fruhvirtova won her first WTA title in Chennai, on hard court, in September 2022. Ranked 130th at the time, she showed character and resilience, winning three matches in three sets, including the final against Magda Linette, and the title took her into the top 100 as its youngest member, aged 17. A few months earlier she had made her name at the WTA 1000 in Miami: ranked only 279th and playing on a wildcard, she beat former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka and reached the last 16, where she lost to Paula Badosa. At 16, she was the youngest player to reach that stage in Miami since Maria Sharapova and Tatiana Golovin in 2004. By the end of 2023, aged 18, she had played in every Grand Slam tournament, with her best result coming in Australia.
Junior career.
- 2017

- 2021

MOURATOGLOU ACADEMY
Her link with the Mouratoglou Academy.
Linda Fruhvirtova was 11 when, in 2017, she was taken under the wing of ChampSeed, the Mouratoglou Academy foundation that helps promising young players achieve their ambitions. Followed in particular by Mathis di Maio, the foundation's technical coordinator, she quickly took off in junior tennis and then on the professional tour.
Impressed by her potential, Patrick Mouratoglou said she had “everything it takes to become world No. 1”, her main asset being her mental strength: “She's an incredible fighter and an incredible competitor.” She continues to train regularly at the academy.

GAME & EQUIPMENT
How Linda plays.
Her game
A pure product of the Czech school, Linda Fruhvirtova relies on a brilliant backhand that she can hit very hard from any position, and occasionally slices to break the rhythm. She describes herself as a tactical player who likes to vary angles, spin and trajectories, taking the ball early to outmanoeuvre her opponents. Slightly less powerful and aggressive than her younger sister Brenda, she makes very few mistakes and excels in the short game thanks to her soft hands. When stretched on the backhand side, she even plays Maria Sharapova-style left-handed shots.
Her equipment
Linda Fruhvirtova plays with a Wilson Blade 16×19 racket.

Personal life & interests.
Born in Prague, where she still lives, Linda Fruhvirtova was coached, like her little sister Brenda, by her father, Hynek Fruhvirt, at Sparta Prague, the famous club where Tomáš Berdych, the Plíšková sisters and Radek Štěpánek also played. A keen follower of sport, especially ice hockey and football, she enjoys singing, travelling and spending time with her family, above all Brenda, whom she has always said is more promising than she is.
